MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH UNIT
Students will learn the following information in this unit:
Physical, mental, and social pyramid of health
Physical: lessons regarding exercise, muscular system, and water
Mental: self-esteem and goals
Responsible Decision Making Model
Anger cues and anger management
Stress- how it affects your body and stress management techniques
Resistance skills to peer pressure
Depression and suicide prevention strategies

![]() Students are asked to write their biggest stressor (cause of stress) and place it on the stressor chart shown above. Most stressors listed are related to school, friends, and family. Then, students write one thing they do that helps them relieve stress. |

"Obstacles in Life" |
The student continues down the road of life until the student reaches the bullseye. The bullseye at the end of the tunnel represents what students want to be when they grow up. Were they able to make it through the "Tunnel of Life" and successfully reach their goal?

Here is a sample of a piece of the puzzle. Students were asked to show the self they saw, the self they hide, and the self they hope to be.
"Goal Quilt" |
This is a piece of the quilt. Each student decorated a quilt piece pertaining to the goal that they pledged to work toward for the remainder of the nine week period. |
Their goal had to be one that would improve their physical, mental, or social health. |
